The chairman of the Bima City KONI, Feri Sofiyan, SH, was proud to have passed Muhammad Fajar for the NTB Rock Climbing Team for the PON Papua Team as a sparring partner athlete.
Fajar is an orphaned child of the Nurul Mubin orphanage in Bima City who was initially called by the PON team a few days ago. That was based on the results of the meeting of the NTB Rock Climbing Team meeting.
Fajar was declared to have passed the PON to replace the athlete from East Lombok on behalf of Mufidawati. He and other athletes from Kota Bima 3, Dompu 2, Lotim 1, Atteng 1 and Mataram 2, will compete in the 20th PON in Papua.
M Fauzi, Head of the Kobi Rock Climbing Daily, said, Fajar was one of the athletes who represented NTB at the pre-PON event in East Kalimantan in 2019. The men's team silver medal in the speed record number was unable to get him to PON Papua, because the ticket had to be the best first.
Currently Fajar is 18 years old, he said, at the 2018 NTB Porprov event he contributed 3 gold medals. Even though his status is only as a sparring partner athlete before qualifying for the core athletes, KONI Kota Bima still supports his needs.
"Including one athlete from Bima City on behalf of Fatahilla who is a sparring athlete, he received financial support from KONI in Bima City," he said.
Receiving information, the Head of the Bima City KONI, Feri Sofiyan, SH, expressed his pride and gratitude for the efforts of the younger athletes from sparring athletes to PON athletes. "He is proud and expresses his appreciation," concluded Fauzin.
