The implementation of a four-year grand sports party was originally scheduled to be held in October 2020. However, the Covid-19 pandemic forced the implementation of PON to be postponed for one year.
Marciano believes the government will have special consideration in granting permits to implement PON. "Sports events that are postponed must be rolled back again in 2021. Of course they must be held with strict health protocols so that the athlete's safety is guaranteed. KONI believes that the organizer must ensure that the implementation of PON must be held for the continuation of athlete's achievement to be tested again in event four. this year, "explained Marciano.
KONI takes an example of several sports events that can still be carried out even in the midst of a pandemic such as the NBA, English League, and Formula 1 Racing which are still rolling by implementing strict health protocols. For this reason, his party is optimistic that PON Papua can be held and will run successfully.
"Most of the athletes who are members of the National Training Program are forced to return home to train independently. In order to maintain athlete's fitness through this PON, athletes will compete again like other sports events abroad that can run," he said.
