The 21 PON Bali pencak silat athletes hope to get a vaccine soon. The desire is in line so that face-to-face exercises can be done more optimally. Because, until now their training is still limited. If they are vaccinated first, the fighters will feel more comfortable and safer when they undergo preparation training for PON XX / 2021 in Papua, next October.
"The hope of getting vaccinated against Covid-19 first is certain. Vaccines already exist. Apart from health workers, TNI-Polri, and public servants, I also hope that Balinese athletes will be prioritized," said Head Coach of Bali Pencak Silat, I Gusti Made Semarajaya.
According to Semarajaya, the Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora), Zainudin Amali, had also said this was a matter of taxation to athletes. Namely, the athletes who won PON tickets would prioritize getting vaccines.
Semarajaya was also very confident, KONI Bali had proposed this. Why is it so urgent, because athletes who win PON tickets must increase the volume of training. And the PON Papua event is also getting closer, so athletes are expected to be more comfortable practicing.
"Although we prioritize getting vaccines, we still apply health protocols. But at least athletes feel more comfortable after getting vaccines," said Gusti Semarajaya.
Another consideration for PON athletes will also carry the name Bali in a multi-year event. Will stake the pride of Bali Island in sports. So that the vaccine is needed by athletes so that they can make more optimal preparations. Apart from athletes, coaches also expect to be vaccinated. Because you will often meet athletes.
"If our athletes are vaccinated, we may continue to increase the volume of training. This is because martial arts athletes can get quite a heavy load. Especially defending the overall champion during Pre-PON also with 4 gold medals," said Gusti Semarajaya, who is also Head of Emergency and Logistics BPBD Bali Province.
"We will specifically fight for the athletes of martial arts first. Because, the sport of silat is a mainstay of KONI Bali in gaining medals at PON Papua. It should be prioritized, so that athletes can prepare optimally," said Gusti Semarajaya.
