KONI Southeast Sulawesi is expected to realize the regional training center (Pelatda) in early 2021.
Secretary of the board of the takraw branch, Sultra Heriansyah, said the best achievements of the XX PON planned for September 2021 were measured by the readiness of the athletes through the centralized regional training plate.
"We are still in the challenge of the corona virus pandemic but the preparation of athletes and coaches to face the XX Papua PON must also be an important note," said Heriansyah.
KONI Southeast Sulawesi plans to procure equipment for each sport to support training through the 2021 APBD.
"The competition for PON XX Papua medal collection is predicted to run tight because each region is working on athletes despite the corona virus problem," he said.
Data from the Southeast Sulawesi KONI states that 11 sports have pocketed XX PON 2021 tickets in Papua.
Separately, Head of the Southeast Sulawesi KONI Achievement Development Division Isnain Kimi said Southeast Sulawesi was optimistic that through the struggles of athletes, coaches and administrators of 11 sports who passed the PON, they would achieve the best achievements.
Sports that have pocketed PON tickets include softball, badminton, karate, pencak silat, taekwondo, athletics, road racing (motorcycle racing), football takraw, shooting and swimming.
Southeast Sulawesi which is ranked 24th in PON XIX 2016 in West Java is determined to improve its position in PON XX Papua.
KONI Sultra appealed to sports administrators to prepare athletes as well as possible so that the hope of winning a gold medal or silver and bronze medals becomes a reality.
The provincial board of the Indonesian Shooting Association (Perbakin) Ashar said the opportunities for shooting athletes to gain gold, silver and bronze medals at the PON XX / 2021 Papua event were wide open.
He acknowledged that the competition for medals in the PON arena will be tight because the athletes who compete are the best athletes from all over Indonesia.
