Census Target Population in Papua Province 10 Percent

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Papua Province is optimistic that the population census target will be achieved 5-10 percent. Despite seeing the situation and conditions in Papua, there are still difficulties with the internet network.

In Papua, not all places have an internet network, and the terrain is quite difficult, but we are optimistic that the 5-10 percent target given by the center can be achieved, ”said the Head of BPS Papua, Simon Sapari in Jayapura City.

Simon also said that out of the 4 million Papuan population, his party is optimistic that this target can be achieved. "From the central target, from a total population of 4 million. Because of the situation earlier, not only in the interior, but in cities it is still difficult to access the network, ”he explained.

According to Simon, the population census is mandatory, so that he does not work alone but collaborates with the Ministry of Home Affairs, Population Service, Social Service, Women and Children Empowerment.

For areas that do not yet have an internet network, said Simon, a population census will be carried out through interviews, but this will be done after the online registration deadline is over.

According to Simon, it is hoped that this census can become awareness of the public, because this census is very important. This census officer only helps to guide in case of difficulties during this online registration.

It is appealed to all people in Papua to know clearly how many people are in an area and how the government plans for the future. "That way, we can focus on program execution in that area," he concluded.
