The acceleration of distribution of social services in Papua and West Papua must be increased

Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Muhadjir Effendy said the government continues to improve social assistance (social assistance) that continues to be distributed to the community due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

"Evaluation until June 2020, that the progress of aid both regular and non-regular, will continue to be improved," said Muhadjir, Wednesday (06/17/2020).

Some of the problems were corrected, firstly, the acceleration of the fulfillment of the ceiling of 20 million basic food recipients, and the acceleration of distribution of prosperous family cards to 1.1 million recipients of the expanded basic food program.

"The provinces that need to accelerate the distribution of food are West Papua and Papua provinces," Muhadjir explained.

Then, the acceleration of the distribution of cash assistance in the region III clusters in the regions of Maluku, Papua and West Papua.

"The acceleration of distribution of electricity tokens for prepaid electricity customers in areas that are difficult to access. And the improvement of target accuracy in each stage of distribution," said Muhadjir.

According to him, basically the achievement of the Social Aid progress was good. "Between 80-100 percent of this is supported because of good cooperation," concluded Muhadjir.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Finance noted the realization of social assistance (social assistance) until May 31, 2020 amounting to Rp 61.4 trillion. The realization jumped 30 percent compared to the same period the previous year which was recorded at Rp 54 trillion.

Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani said that the distribution of social assistance was greater to provide economic support due to the impact of the Corona Virus pandemic. Because, due to the pandemic many people lost their livelihoods.

"Bansos increased by 30.7 percent. This illustrates our efforts to provide social cushion due to various economic contractions and even layoffs or people laid off," Sri Mulyani said through an online discussion, Jakarta, Tuesday (16/6).
