Papua Provincial Government Buys Farmer's Hasi From Mama Mama Papua

The Provincial Government of Papua buys agricultural products from local traders to be distributed to communities affected by the co-19 pandemic. The farm produce is collected and then distributed again as social assistance.

The Head of the Agriculture and Food Security Office of Papua Province, Semuel Siriwa, revealed that five tons of agricultural produce consisted of cassava, sweet potato, taro, long beans, bananas, salak, mango, sago, pumpkin, and vegetables.

The local food was bought from traders in the districts of North Jayapura, South Jayapura, Abepura, and Heram, as well as several locations selling Papuan mothers in the vicinity of Jayapura City.

"The co-19 pandemic period of Papuan mama-mama merchandise did not sell well because of the lack of activity from people outside the home, sometimes even to the point of being damaged. The governor instructed us to buy all local food commodities to be distributed to the poor, especially those affected by the economy since the corona outbreak, "Siriwa said, Wednesday, May 6, 2020.

According to Siriwa, around 600 residents have received assistance coming from various regions in Jayapura City. He believes by buying thousands of kilograms of local pagan commodities, the availability of people's daily needs will be fulfilled.

"We say that local food is available because this activity is carried out without pre-planned, meaning spontaneously and can collect up to 5,000 Kilograms," he explained.

One of the Papuan mama-mama traders, Nelina Wenda, representing the other merchants expressed, thanks to the Provincial Government of Papua, for buying their wares.

"I was greatly helped by the purchase of all merchandise valued at Rp. 7 million. Because since there was a co-19 outbreak, merchandise only sold 50 percent, often even damaged causing losses," Nelina said.
