BIN Provides Assistance to RSA Laboratory Equipment to UGM |
The National Intelligence Agency (BIN) provides laboratory equipment for the Academic Hospital (RSA) of Gadjah Mada University to speed up the handling of COVID-19 in patients.
Laboratory equipment assistance was handed over by BIN Chief Secretary Komjen Pol Bambang Sunarwibowo to the Chancellor of Gajah Mada University (UGM) Prof. Panut Mulyono at the UGM Yogyakarta Hall on Thursday.
"Hopefully with the help of this tool, it can accelerate the research officials in processing positive suspected samples of COVID-19 and in the future can produce COVID-19 vaccine and other anti-virus needed by the community," said Bambang.
The assistance is a realization of a cooperation agreement between BIN and UGM in developing research to overcome infectious diseases with a potential pandemic and cooperation in developing therapeutic technology for COVID-19.
Bambang hopes this assistance can accelerate the performance of researchers in identifying suspect COVID-19 and accelerating the breaking of the corona virus spread chain.
UGM Chancellor Prof. Panut Mulyono hoped that the assistance of laboratory equipment would be able to increase the capacity of the UGM RSA laboratory and facilitate the research staff in accelerating the handling of positive patients and suspect COVID-19.
Panut Mulyono hopes that the more sophisticated and faster the tools available for detection, the faster the treatment and opportunity for patients to recover, so that the COVID-19 pandemic can be eradicated faster.
He advised the community to continue to play an active role in preventing the spread of the corona outbreak, both through supporting the government in implementing large-scale social restrictions (PSBB), delaying going home, maintaining personal health, and voluntarily providing assistance to medical personnel.
"The community also has an important role in suppressing and breaking the chain of the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. Hopefully this pandemic will soon pass and the situation will return conducive," Panut said.
