Korem 172 / PWY provided assistance to residents affected by the spread of the corona virus (Covid-19) through the The Spirit of Papua aid post located in front of the Kotaraja Autonomous office, Jayapura city,

The Spirit of Papua Command Post is a place that is designed by young Papuans to collect various basic needs assistance from those who want to share with the poor people affected by the corona virus pandemic.

Danrem expressed his appreciation to young people, students, activists who joined as volunteers in the Spirit of Papua group, who volunteered to devote themselves to helping others, through this community which was a place for channeling aid to all elements of society affected by the covid-19 epidemic in Papua that really needs it.

"I am very proud of the young people of Papua who have done so far. If yesterday Korem 172 / PWY cared for Covid-19 to carry out social services in several places, meaning we cannot distribute the entire region. Now with this Spirit of Papua command post, we will entrust the assistance to all regions in Papua, "said Danrem, Monday (4/27).

This community also, continued Danrem, can be an example and a forum for all parties and other agencies in channeling their assistance.

"I also invite all parties, both outside Papua and Papua, to be able to help ease the burden of our brothers and sisters affected by co-19. One of them is through this community ", said Danrem.

 "We also have to cooperate with all parties and work together in combating the covid-19 pandemic, we support the central and regional governments in combating this corona virus, I urge the public to remain at home, wear masks and diligently wash their hands," he said.

In this case Korem 172 / PWY handed over aid in the form of 1 ton of rice and 20 cartons of instant noodles and was received directly by Coordinator Michael Yarisetouw and other volunteers at The Spirit of Papua post.

The Spirit of Papua activity coordinator Michael Yarisetouw thanked Danrem 172 / PWY for the assistance provided, and will channel the assistance to those who really need it.

Of course, currently affected by the co-19 pandemic due to social distancing and must remain at home according to the government's call to break the chain of distribution of this co-19.

"Thanks to Mr. Danrem, who has deigned to stop by our post, there are already several villages that we have visited to be given assistance. Until now there have been 1200 food packages that we distribute to the public, "he explained.
