Sorong City Government Will Extend Region Quarantine Period in the Next 2 Weeks |
In order to prevent the spread of the corona virus (Covid-19) in Sorong, West Papua, the local government will extend the area's quarantine policy. Sorong Mayor of West Papua Lambert Jitmau said that the quarantine of the region until 10 April 2020 will be extended if the spread of the deadly virus continues to increase in Indonesia.
"One or two days in the future I will issue a letter to extend the quarantine period of the region in an effort to protect the people of Sorong from the spread of the corona virus," he was quoted as saying by Antara on Tuesday (04/07/2020).
Lambert said, the number of corona virus positive patients in the City of Sorong so far has killed two people and one person. There are no new positive patients, while in other areas continue to increase.
Therefore, he said, the policy of extending the quarantine period of the Sorong City area was for the good and safety of the people.
"We extend the quarantine period of the Sorong City area by two weeks while looking at the situation and condition of the spread of the deadly virus," he said.
Lambert revealed that he did not care about the parties who protested the policy because the move was to protect the public from the spread of the corona virus outbreak.
