Papua Provincial Government Praises Jokowi's Decree Regarding Resignation of PON Papua |
The Papua Provincial Government praised President Jokowi's decision to postpone the implementation of the Papua PON 2020 into October 2021. Acting Head of the Papua Youth and Sports Service, Alexander Kapisa, said the decision was so strategic when the corona virus pandemic or Covid-19.
"This certainly has a positive impact on providing space and time for us, the government and the people of Papua to improve themselves, to prepare for the implementation of a national multievent in 2021," he said, Friday, April 24, 2020.
Alexander said the postponement of the National Sports Week or PON 2020 Papua did not automatically make preparations to stop. According to him, the work on the venue and the athlete's guesthouse will continue. "I think the venue works will continue with reference to the Covid-19 prevention protocol," he said.
According to him, the target of completing infrastructure for Papuan PON still refers to cooperation documents with third parties as implementers. Under the agreement several venues will be completed in July-September 2020.
"I think we are still on the track, maybe the speed in our settlement is slowing down because we have to follow the health protocol," he said.
Alexander said that the corona outbreak had an impact on development, namely the reduction of working hours. He gave an example that usually can be made 2-3 work shifts, as a precautionary measure only make 1 shift only.
"I also want to say that in each venue, we encourage contractors to set up a health clinic," he said.
Health workers, he said, would carry out routine checks every morning and evening. Alexander said that the procedure was not only to prevent corona virus but had become a necessity in every physical project undertaken in Papua.
"This is not only at the time of the outbreak of Covid-19, but we know that in Papua there is malaria," he said.
