Papua Extends Period of Social Restrictions in Efforts to Prevent Corona

The Provincial Government of Papua extends social restrictions on Bumi Cenderawasih, by issuing Circular No. 440/3705 / SET which will continue until April 13, 2020.

Papua Province Regional Secretary, Hery Dosinaen said that with this extension, government office activities will return to normal on April 14, 2020.

"Employees will enter as usual, from previously ASN works from home and will begin government activities on April 14, 2020," said Hery, Tuesday (3/31/2020).

Hery also mentioned that Papua did not do a lockdown, but only extended social restrictions. "The public must be able to understand that the rules currently applied by the government are implemented to prevent corona covid-19," he explained.

The people in Papua need not worry, especially with the shortage of basic food, because until now the distribution of basic food and other community needs is still running normally.

"We only close the flow of passengers from and out of Papua. After all this is already running and Papua is still safe, "he said.

Meanwhile, Jayapura City Government also extended the school holidays for 17 April 2020, related to the prevention of corona covid-19 in Papua.

The extension of the schoolchild holiday period is inseparable from the discovery of 4 Jayapura City residents who were positive co-19 and the increasing number of PDP and ODP in Jayapura.

Previously, school children in Jayapura studied at home from March 17 to March 31, 2020, but due to the finding of residents who were positive co-19, the holiday period was extended, and social distancing was also extended until April 17, 2020.

"Children are dismissed to save them from the corona virus. We never know who has contracted the corona virus, so we save children from this virus, 'he explained.

During holidays children are asked to remain at home, not crowding, wandering in the streets, in shops, gathering with friends, better at home while studying and always with parents.

In addition to dismissing schoolchildren, the Mayor of Jayapura also asked ASN to work from home until April 17, 2020. "If there is urgent work, ASN may go to the office with working hours of 8:00 to 12:00 CET and still pay attention to social distancing, keeping distance from one another," he explained.
