Home Affairs Minister Instructs Local Government Give Grants or Social Aid

Interior Minister Tito Karnavian instructed all local governments to provide grants or social assistance (social assistance) during the Covid-19 pandemic. The target is the community outside the recipient of assistance from the central government.

"The granting of grants or social assistance in accordance with the Minister of Home Affairs instructions No. 1 of 2020 concerning Prevention of the Spread and Acceleration of Handling Covid-19 in the local government environment," he said in Jakarta, Thursday (9/4).

Related to this, Tito asked that the pattern of distribution of aid be in accordance with the social and geographical conditions of the community. He also requested that a complaint channel be made for the community which must be well socialized to the community.

"Perform coaching to the community to create independence during the pandemic," said Tito.

In addition to the Grants and Social Assistance provided by the Regional Government, Tito continued, assistance was also provided to the affected communities during the pandemic period provided by the Central Government. He said, the Central Government had prepared a social safety net program.

One of the programs of the Central Government is through the Family of Hope Program (PKH). The government also decided to increase the number of PKH Beneficiary Families (KPM) from 9.2 million families to 10 million families.

"Not only that, the Beneficiary Family of the food needs program also increased, from 15.2 million to 20 million families," he explained.

Meanwhile, to help underprivileged communities in the Greater Jakarta area and outside Jabodetabek affected by the implementation of the PSBB, the government also said Tito, has prepared a social safety net program scheme. This safety net program will be provided in the form of Direct Cash Assistance (BLT). BLT recipient residents, claimed to be given a grant of Rp. 600 thousand which will be given for 3 months.

"BLT will be given in the Greater Jakarta area and outside Jabodetabek in the amount of Rp. 600,000 per month for 3 months," said Tito.
