The Government of Papua Prepares Steps to Anticipate the availability of groceries

The Papua Provincial Government will take steps to anticipate the availability of goods and the price of eleven staples in the midst of the spread of Corona Virus (Covid-19).

Papua Regional Secretary Hery Dosinaen told reporters in Jayapura on Thursday (3/19/2020) that the availability of rice stocks was still safe for the next four months.

"However, sugar stocks are very lacking and other food needs are also starting to be lacking," he said.

According to him, this matter became the attention of the government in order to take steps to deal with it. Do not let this situation and condition of life or the economy of the community is not good, because of lack of food.

"The whole community should not panic, because the government is actively monitoring food prices and supplies on a regular basis," he said.

Touched on the existence of a mass action asking for the port and airport to be closed, the Secretary said there was no closure of the airport or port.

"Because we are currently on emergency alert, so sea and air transportation are still in place, but officials must impose preventive measures at the entrances such as ports and airports," he said.
