Papua Police Chief Inspector General Paulus Waterpauw said there were indications that a number of armed criminal groups (KKB) were gathering and moving towards Tembagapura.

This indication is reinforced by the violent actions of the KKB that deliberately created disturbances in Puncak, Wamena, Intan Jaya and finally led to the PT Freeport Indonesia mine site in Tembagapura, Timika.

"They (KKB) want to control the Freeport mining area. We continue to take action to overcome this group, "explained Paulus.

Paulus said that he would continue to enforce the law against the KKB. He acknowledged having difficulty in crippling group movements due to several natural, geographical, terrain and environmental factors. Paulus also requested community cooperation not to help the KKB movement.

"If there are people who see the movement of the perpetrators (KKB) who roam in their area, immediately informed us. Including the parties not to reverse the facts as if the security forces did not take legal action, "he said.

Meanwhile, Mimika Police Chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner I Gusti Gde Era Adhinata ensured that the perpetrators of the shooting of Bharatu Doni a few days ago were the same perpetrators as the perpetrators of the holding of 3 teachers in Arwanop Village.

"We will not give an opportunity to them (KKB) in the movement. We will work with civil, traditional and religious communities to maintain security in Tembagapura and in Timika, "he said.
