Prevent Covid-19, 37 Airports in Papua Officially Closed to Passengers

The Sentani Airport Authority, Papua, temporarily closed passenger transport activities from Thursday (3/26/2020) to 9 April 2020 as an effort to prevent the COVID-19 outbreak.

"It is true that special operations for passengers at Sentani Airport began tomorrow (Thursday), following a letter from the Head of the Regional X Airport Authority Office dated March 25," Acting GM Sentani Airport Anthonius Praptono told ANTARA in Papua on Wednesday.

According to him, the letter signed by Usman Effendi was issued to answer the results of a joint agreement in a meeting chaired by the Governor of Papua Lukas Enembe, Tuesday (03/24/2020).

The operational closure of Sentani Airport is exclusively for passengers, while other services such as cargo transportation continue to be carried out.

"The airport continues to serve cargo flights, emergencies, blood samples, and other medical aspects including medical personnel in the context of handling COVID-19 controls and countermeasures," Anthonius said.
