PON XX Papua Will Not Be Interrupted by KKB

The Coordinating Minister for Politics, Law and Security (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD ensured that the National Sports Week (PON) XX 2020 was not interrupted by attacks from the Papua Armed Criminal Group (KKB).

PON XX will continue according to plan, from October 20 to November 2, 2020. "It has already been discussed that the PON will continue well," Mahfud said at the Kemenko Polhukam Building, Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat, Central Jakarta, Thursday (5/3) .

The government continues to insist that PON XX will not be disturbed even though the KKB in Papua has carried out attacks in the Tembagapura district in the past few days.

Mahfud ensured that all national agendas such as the PON to be held in Papua were in accordance with the previous plan. "The government has anticipated everything. That there is indeed such a disturbance and it has been resolved based on SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) in the National Police," he said.

Previously, the TNI Post in the Banti region, Tembagapura District, Mimika Regency, Papua was shot by armed groups on Wednesday (3/4) and Thursday (5/3). Korem 174 / ATW Commander Brigadier General Agus Rauf said so far no personnel had been injured in the shooting. Even so, the TNI remained alert.
