Mahfud Gathers TNI-Polri Discuss Papua Security |
The Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD will gather TNI-Polri to discuss the security of Papua in the aftermath of terrorist acts of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Tembagapura, Mimika.
"Tomorrow I will invite the Indonesian National Police, the Attorney General's Office, the TNI and all related ministries and institutions to be invited here tomorrow," Mahfud said at the office of the Coordinating Ministry for Politics and Security, Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat, Jakarta, Monday (03/09/2020).
Mahfud said that the Papua security discussion meeting was planned to be held at 09.30 on Tuesday (10/3/2020). Mahfud stressed, so far the security apparatus has run standard operating procedures (SOPs) for security in Papua.
"Procedurally there is an SOP, yes, the security forces are already working there, the government is working, but in more detail handling, because this is an event, tomorrow there will still be a meeting at the Coordinating Ministry for Politics and Security," he said.
Reported earlier, the flow of refugees who previously lived in Tembagapura District, Mimika Regency, Papua continues to grow.
"Please note that the total number of residents who have been demoted to Timika from Tembagapura District since 6-9 March 2020 is 1,572," Papua Police Chief Inspector General Paulus Waterpauw said on Monday (03/09/2020).
Residents in the Tembagapura area asked to be evacuated because KKBs from various regions in the mountains of Papua were already around the village and spread terror by firing at TNI-Polri guard posts.
The action carried out by this KKB certainly made residents feel threatened. Not only that, residents have begun to find it difficult to get the needs of food and health services.
