Commission III: Security at PON 2020 Papua Top Priority

Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) Ahmad Sahroni said that the guarantee of the safety and comfort of the athletes who will compete in PON 2020 Papua is a top priority. He asked all security elements to work together to succeed the sports party.

"PON 2020 is not an arbitrary sports party, because the attention of the community both nationally and internationally will be directed there. Therefore, the security and comfort aspects of this event must really be considered, "Sahroni said at the Parliament Complex of the Republic of Indonesia, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday (5/2).

Sahroni believes that the successful implementation of PON 2020 on 20 October to 3 November 2020 will have a positive impact on economic development in Papua. Therefore, all relevant authorities need to cooperate in the success of this activity.

"The economic impact will be large, so we need to really maintain this activity so that it is always conducive and safe, so that the PON 2020 can bring benefits to all parties," Sahroni said.

On Tuesday (4/1) Commission I, II and III of the Indonesian Parliament held a joint meeting with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the National Police and the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) regarding the implementation of the PON in Papua.
