Papua's Special Autonomy Funds are increasingly being felt by the Papuan people



The Special Autonomy Fund (Otsus) is now increasingly being felt by the people of Papua. The Puncak Jaya Regency Government, for example, manages the Special Autonomy Fund to improve the quality and competitiveness of their human resources (HR). The Puncak Jaya Regency Government provides scholarships for undergraduate (S1) to stratum three (S3) levels.

The Regent of Puncak Jaya Regency, Yuni Wonda, stated that there are around 500 students from his area receiving scholarships who are now studying at various tertiary institutions throughout Indonesia.
 
"Scholarships are intended for students from Puncak Jaya, both undergraduate and postgraduate programs are funded through scholarships," said Regent Wonda, Tuesday (22/11/2022).

In addition, Wonda Regent explained that the Special Autonomy Fund was also used to rehabilitate student dormitories in five cities, namely Jayapura, Manokwari, Manado, Makassar and Yogyakarta.

It is known that the Special Autonomy Fund for the Puncak Jaya District Government is IDR 80 billion. The budget for the education sector in Puncak Jaya is IDR 10 billion. Including scholarships for students from Puncak Jaya Regency. Likewise to build schools and other facilities according to their designation.
 
The Wonda Regent also stated that there were four programs financed by Special Autonomy, including the fields of education, health, infrastructure and the special economy for indigenous Papuans (OAP).
 
"The Special Autonomy Fund really helps the community, especially OAP in Puncak Jaya Regency because these funds are intended for the four programs," concluded the Regent Wonda.
