The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) confiscated evidence in the form of cash to gold bars from searches in Jakarta during the investigation into the alleged bribery and gratification case that ensnared the Governor of Papua, Lukas Enembe (LE).
"The KPK investigation team, Wednesday (9/11) in the case with suspect LE, has finished searching at two different locations in Jakarta, namely the residence of suspect LE and an apartment," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri in Jakarta, Thursday ( 10/11/2022).
From the search, he said, the investigative team found several documents related to the case, electronic evidence, financial records, cash in rupiah, and gold bullion.
"Immediate analysis and confiscation will be carried out as evidence in the case with the suspect LE and his friends," said Ali.
Earlier on Friday (4/11), the KPK had also searched three locations in Jayapura City, namely the house of the party involved in the case and two private company offices.
From that location, various documents and electronic evidence were found and secured which are suspected to be related to the proof of the case.
In investigating the case, the KPK investigators have summoned Lukas Enembe to be questioned in his capacity as a witness at the Papua Mobile Brigade Headquarters on Monday (12/9). However, Luke Enembe was not present.
Next, the KPK has also summoned Lukas Enembe to be questioned as a suspect at the KPK Red and White Building, Jakarta, Monday (26/9). However, the person concerned was also absent due to illness and submitted a letter to seek treatment in Singapore.
The KPK investigator team also met Lukas Enembe at his residence in Jayapura City, Papua, last Thursday (3/11) in order to examine the case. In addition, a team consisting of KPK doctors and the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) also met with Lukas Enembe for a health check. Also present in the group was KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri.
Firli emphasized that the arrival of the KPK team at Luke Enembe's residence was solely for the sake of law enforcement. However, he said, the KPK in the process also considers the rights of the suspect.
He explained that the KPK team examined Lukas Enembe for 1.5 hours, which was related to the case as well as his health condition. The examination was assisted by four doctors from Central IDI and regional IDI. At the end of the examination, the KPK and LE also signed the official report and other administrative documents.
The KPK has not officially announced the status of suspect Lukas Enembe. Regarding the publication of case construction and parties who have been designated as suspects, this will be carried out when forced efforts have been made to either arrest or detain the suspect.
