Luke Enembe Complains to Socratez Yoman Calling Determination of Corruption is a Criminalization

A number of responses emerged after the appointment of Papuan Governor Lukas Enembe as a KPK suspect in a corruption case. One of the parties who tend to tend to the incumbent Governor comes from the 'political' Pastor Socratez Yoman. In the description of his writing published by one of the opposition partisan portals, it is stated that the KPK is trying to criminalize Lukas Enembe for the purpose or political agenda of 2024. The case is also said to be not a legal issue. He considered that the presence of Lukas Enembe was a threat and an obstacle for other political parties to become the number one person in Papua Province.

In the article, he continued a message from Lukas Enembe during a meeting on September 14 which stated that the Head of BIN, Budi Gunawan and PDIP used the KPK to criminalize. The criminalization is called a toll road, because the Head of BIN, the Minister of Home Affairs and the KPK come from the same institution, namely the police. At the end of his opinion he said that the determination of Lukas Enembe as a suspect for political purposes in 2024.

Determination of Lukas Enembe as a Suspect is Not a Criminalization

The determination of Lukas Enembe as a suspect that happened so quickly did raise questions for some parties. The closest speculation in this case is political interests in 2024. Others refer to it as criminalization that has been carried out repeatedly by political rivals. However, the case of Lukas Enembe is not new, it's just that not many people know and understand.

Deputy Chairperson of the Corruption Eradication Commission Alexander Marwata stated that the determination of the suspects by the KPK involved three regional heads, namely the Mimika Regent, the Central Mamberamo Regent, and the Governor Lukas Enembe. The determination of the suspect against the Governor is based on sufficient evidence. Prior to the determination, the KPK had examined a number of witnesses. His party also stated that he often received information from the public regarding the absence of any follow-up on allegations of corruption in Papua. The determination of Lukas Enembe is a form of the presence of the KPK against the alleged corruption practice in Cenderawasih Earth. This is a big hope for the KPK that the Special Autonomy (Otsus) funds distributed by the central government to Papua can be used for the welfare of the community. If the practice of corruption continues, it is feared that the government's efforts to improve the welfare of the Papuan people will not materialize.

KPK Ends the Rise of Fictitious Projects in Papua

Strictly speaking, the KPK, through its deputy chairman's statement, said that it smelled the rampant allegations of fictitious projects in Papua due to lack of supervision. In several discussions with anti-corruption activists and businessmen in Papua, the majority complained about auctions for the procurement of goods and services as well as infrastructure development, which it turns out that the project is thought to have been regulated. This will be explored in the investigation process. It is not limited to bribes because the impact is on the development process, namely the project is not in accordance with specifications or there is a mark up, so that there is an element of state loss. In investigating various cases of alleged homicide in Papua, the KPK coordinates with a number of parties. One of them is the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK), which is in charge of tracking and analyzing the money flow of state officials in Papua.

The allegation of criminalization is a form of provocation

The impact of too many people who 'lived' under Lukas Enembe had an effect on the fact- twisting efforts carried out by a number of parties just to protect their leaders from being ensnared further. No matter how hard these efforts are, if they are faced with law enforcement and legal processes, they will surely reach a dead end with conditions that force them to bend their knees.

One of them is what Reverend Socratez Yoman did. Allegations that the determination is a form of criminalization and political motives should not be made by a pastor whose job is to cool his congregation. Indeed, Socratez Yoman's predicate as a political priest is still evident in him. It could be that some Papuan problems that are based on the emotions of the people come from provocations through the provocation of a priest against his congregation.

It should be noted that for a long time, Socratez Yoman tends to take advantage of his position to influence society provocatively. He easily accused Lukas Enembe of being a suspect as a criminalization as well as political interests ahead of 2024. Even before that, he often responded to the expansion policy in a negative and pessimistic way. He said the expansion policy was a systematic, structured, massive, widespread, collective, and integrated destruction machine for indigenous Papuans.

All of these statements are very far from his position and profession as a servant of the people and actually lead to many political issues. As a doctor, priest, and public figure, Socrates should not defend someone who is guilty only for the sake of his group, as was done with Luke Enembe.

Concern for Papuan Officials Stumbled upon Corruption Cases

Meanwhile, a senior Papuan figure, Michael Manufandu, expressed his concern about the number of Papuan officials who were caught in cases of alleged corruption. This is because President Jokowi and the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD have long echoed the allegations of a number of officials in Papua stumbling over corruption cases. Specifically, President Jokowi once made a speech that those who misappropriated the special autonomy money from 2002 to 2015 should be investigated and processed. Meanwhile, Mahfud MD said that there were 10 Papuan officials involved in corruption cases.

The large number of Papuan officials involved in corruption is the result of weak government oversight at the top level. Including there are still many officials in Papua who consider state money as their personal money so that it can be used at will without following applicable financial guidelines and procedures. Until now there are still many Papuan people who live poor in various limitations, have no place to live, sell barefoot areca nut, vegetables, fish on the side of the road just to survive.

“While the officials raise official cars, have luxury houses and even buy apartments in Jakarta, there are also those who have girlfriends of artists. The question is where do they get all these luxuries from? I have been a bureaucrat for decades, have nothing, even my children can't pay for education from the Special Autonomy Fund," said the former Director of the Jayapura Domestic Administration Academy (APDN). He explicitly asked for the seriousness of the KPK, the prosecutor's office and the police to thoroughly investigate corruption in the Land of Papua.
