This Young Leader Calls the Expansion to Raise the Dignity and Dignity of Papuan Indigenous People

Young Papuan leader Steve Mara said the expansion could raise the dignity of indigenous Papuans.

"We in every Papuan customary area have the same opportunity to lead our own area," Steve told Tribun-Papua.com in Jayapura, Thursday (16/6/2022).

For Steve, this division had nothing to do with all the content of the political independence that was being discussed by several groups.

"The expansion is also not the key to resolving the Papua conflict, this is purely a government program to build the community," he said.

For that, Steve asked not to be associated, because good causes will be bad if mixed with the political interests of certain groups' independence.

"I invite Papuan youth to support the government's program, let's talk about ideas and ideas to fill the division and develop our region through expansion," he said.

"Don't just talk about politics, you'll be left behind and someone else will take a seat. The timeline for the plenary session and the ratification of the bill into law is near," he said.

According to him, the formation of the New Autonomous Region (DOB) in Papua has entered the discussion stage of the Problem Inventory List (DIM) in the DPR RI.

Steve admitted that he had read the timeline for the preparation of these 3 bills and in a meeting with the Director General of Regional Autonomy at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Steve Mara had also conveyed that the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Indonesian House of Representatives had to speed up the discussion.

"I convey that if it can be ratified before June 30, 2022, so that the budget items for each new province from transfers to regions (TKD) can be compiled and included in the 2023 APBN, no longer depending on the Papua Provincial Government funds," he added.
