"This legal counseling will last for three days in three places, namely Mandala Village, Rimba Jaya and Bambu Pemali Village," said the Head of the Legal Division during legal socialization in Mandala Village, Monday (11/4).
The participants involved were the Head of RT/RW, Religious Leaders, Traditional Leaders, Community Leaders, Youth and local kelurahan staff.
Assistant for Government and People's Welfare of the Regional Secretariat of Merauke Regency, Agustinus Joko Guritno, stated that legal awareness is very important for all people without exception. All must know the applicable law in order to be able to apply it in everyday life.
“Participants have a duty to continue material related to law to residents and their communities. So that public order and peace can run well," he said.
It is said that there are still many residents who carry out actions that are against the law in the Merauke area. Such as stabbing, theft, sexual violence, land issues and other violations of the law.
"It should not be, that every citizen is protected by law. Of course, those who commit violations will be punished according to the law based on the type of violation committed. However, to minimize it, the public needs to be familiar with the applicable laws and regulations," he said.
This legal socialization presented resource persons from the Merauke Police, the District Attorney's Office, the Merauke District Court and the BPN/ATR Office. The point conveyed is Law number 23 of 2014, concerning Regional Government. Law on District Attorney, Law on District Courts, Law on Police, Law number 5 of 1960 on agrarian matters and regulations and decisions of the Regent of Merauke.
