The investigation team that was dispatched to Kenyam, Nduga Regency, Papua stated that the Mupe Task Force Post in Kwareh Bawah was attacked by armed criminal groups (KKB) from three points.
The attack took place on March 26 and killed two TNI personnel.
"It is true that the report from the Head of the Investigation Team led by the Head of Intel Korem 172/PWY Col Kav Krisyantyanto revealed that the KKB attacked the Marine Post on March 26, 2022, killing two Marines of the Indonesian Navy from three directions," said Danrem 172/PWY Brigadier General Izak Pangemanan. .
Izak explained that the KKB led by Egianus Kogoya attacked the Muara and Perairan Post (Mupe) in response to the personnel on duty.
The Mupe Task Force post is located on the outskirts of a river in Kenyam. The personnel on duty at that time came from the 3rd Marine Infantry Battalion. Until then, two soldiers were killed while eight others were injured.
Izak said that currently the security conditions in Kenyam are relatively safe. However, every personnel is still asked to always be vigilant in the event of an attack.
It is known that the Mupe Task Force Post was attacked by KKB on March 26. The two Marines who died in the attack by KKB were First Lieutenant Mar Moh Iqbal and Private Mar Wilson Anderson Here.
The two victims have been buried in their respective hometowns, namely the late First Lieutenant Mar Moh Iqbal buried in Kendari (Southeast Sulawesi) and Private Mar Wilson Anderson in Kupang (NTT).
