Herman Yoku: Governor Lukas Don't Lie to the Papuan People

Papuan People's Assembly member Herman Yoku asked Governor Lukas Enembe not to lie to the Papuan people regarding his statement that went viral on social media networks. Governor Lukas said in the 1 minute 23 second broadcast, 'Papuans are not happy'.

The video clip since Tuesday (8/2/2022) has been watched thousands of times.

"Luke's statement is like patting water on a pan, splashing your own face, don't use the pretext that people are not happy," said Herman Yoku, Wednesday (9/2/2022).

For him, Luke's statement could have an impact. "The question goes back to you, what is the community not prosperous for, or are you making the community not prosperous?" he said.

Previously, a short broadcast on social networks showed Papua Governor Lukas Enembe's speech.

In his remarks at an event, Lukas said, Papuans were not happy. “All of Papua. On this earth, the people who are not happy are Papuans. You note it. People don't live in happiness," he said.

He revealed, a number of areas 'crying' at this time. There are Intan Jaya, Puncak, Nduga, Bintang Mountains, including Maybrat “People don't live normally in their own country. It's not safe to live, we weren't born for that," he said.

According to Herman Yoku, for two decades, Papuans have lived in misery. "Mr Luke, don't lie. God still gives you the opportunity to have health, the tears of Papuans have suffered for 20 years," said Herman.

He told how his journey to the village and received a lot of input from the community. "I go to remote villages or hamlets, there is no electricity, school children study in the dark, they use lamps," he said.

With a very limited life, Papuans are currently questioning where the fantastically valuable Special Autonomy budget has gone.

"The Special Autonomy Fund has been handed over to the Papuan government, so big, but why make a statement that the people are not prosperous?" he said.

Herman revealed, the State has provided welfare for the Papuan people. It was strange when Governor Lukas later said that the Papuans were not happy. "People live in pressure and suffering, Otsus is only among officials, not in the grassroots community," he explained.

Papuan officials continued, building wealth without caring about others. "The money (Otsus) has never been felt by the people, everything goes to officials, they have luxury cars, land everywhere, even in Jakarta there are houses," said Herman.

To him, Luke's statement resembled someone who was sick. "It's like a fire that is far from being roasted, Luke's statement is like a tongue-in-cheek," he concluded.

The Executive Director of the Manokwari Institute for Research, Assessment and Development of Legal Aid (LP3BH), Yan Christian Warinussy, in mid-December 2021 flicked, the statement of the Governor of Papua Lukas Enembe often invites controversy.

According to Warinussy, the situation was exacerbated by the absence of the Deputy Governor after the death of the late Klemen Tinal in mid-2021. "So, from here we can see, Lukas is not healthy," he said.
