Cooperating with the Jayapura Regency Government, Bank Papua Holds Socialization of Papeda Credit

The Jayapura Regency Government in collaboration with Bank Papua Sentani Branch Office held a Papeda Credit socialization (Program for Accelerating Access to Regional Finance).

The socialization was carried out to fostered business actors from related agencies within the Jayapura Government.

Head of the Business, UMK and Consumer Division of Bank Papua, Abraham Krey, explained that the Papeda Credit program from Bank Papua had been implemented in 2021.

However, he said, the administrative stage was only ready in December 2021, so it had not been maximized due to socialization that had not been carried out.

"So we hope that in 2022, this (Papeda Credit) program can be maximized. We do it especially for business actors in Papua Province and other districts/cities,” said Abraham Krey through a press release received by Tribun-Papua.com, Friday (4/2/2022).

Abraham said he was grateful, because of the good coordination between Bank Papua Sentani Branch Office and the Jayapura Regency Government, so that the socialization could take place at the local Regent's office.

"This is a positive thing, because the Papeda Credit program is one of the programs from Bank Papua,"

"The credit that we disburse to our business actors is without interest, what follows is also for this program there is no administration fee or stamp duty charged to customers. So they receive it in full," he said.

According to him, the period given for this credit program is still limited to a maximum of 24 months (2 years), then the budget ceiling is also a maximum of Rp. 10 million rupiah.

He said, hopefully later from the results of the socialization, those who want to receive Papeda credit loans will be re-evaluated.

"The essence of Papeda credit is that we want to break the chain rather than moneylenders who often give us loans to business actors with high (high) interest rates," he said.

Hopefully, what they get is good and their business is also expected to grow.

With the provision of Papeda Credit, he said, business actors do not stay in this position alone, but can advance to class and in the future there will be an increase in the level of credit obtained.

"If now with Papeda Credit they can get Rp. 10 million rupiah, next time they have moved from Papeda Credit, we give it to KUR (People's Business Credit) again," he said.

"So, they have a business that can continue to grow and develop, so that in the future it can be expected that their business will be more independent," he said.

Jayapura Regency is the first district this year to receive socialization, and there will be other districts that have the potential to be given Papeda Credit.

"As for the requirements, at least they have been equipped with training like this, and proven by a certificate or recommendation from the Papua Industry and Trade and Cooperative Service," he said.

"They can already be given Papeda Credit, because generally these business actors have been provided with training," he said.

"However, business capital is constrained. Well, that's where our role is Bank Papua so that their business can run," he said.

The target for achieving debtors in 2022 is 1,500 debtors throughout Papua Province.

Where, he said, this is an estimate of the unfulfilled 2021 target of 500 debtors plus the 2022 target of 1,000 debtors with a total credit prepared of Rp15 billion.

The momentum took place on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 in the Hall I Floor of Building D of the Jayapura Regent's Office Complex, Gunung Merah, Sentani, Jayapura Regency.

The activity was opened by the Jayapura Regent, who was represented by Assistant II for Economic Affairs at the Jayapura Regency Secretariat, Joko Sunaryo.

Attending the socialization was the Head of the Business, UMK and Consumer Division of Bank Papua Abraham Krey, Head of Bank Papua Sentani Branch Office Puguh Kalbuadi.

Also in attendance was the Head of the Jayapura Regency Food Crops and Horticulture (TPH) Service, David A. Zakaria, a representative of the Plantation and Livestock Service.

Then, the Department of Culture and Tourism, the Department of Industry and Trade, the Department of Cooperatives and MSMEs, DPMPTSP, the Chair of the Jayapura Regency KTNA, Adolf Yoku, and hundreds of business actors or assisted MSMEs.
