TNI does not add troops in Papua after 3 soldiers died at the hands of KKB



TNI Commander General Andika Perkasa confirmed that he would not deploy additional troops to Papua after three soldiers were killed in a shootout with the Papuan Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Gome District, Puncak Regency some time ago.

"There are no additional troops, we will continue to use those who are on duty there to carry out the tasks of the Kodim and Koramil," Andika said in a written statement received by CNNIndonesia.com, Saturday (29/1).

He admitted that he had received an explanation from his staff that the TNI had never attempted to provoke it in the slightest. According to him, the attack actually occurred when TNI soldiers were carrying out routine duties.
 
Andika said the methods used by the Papuan KKB were against human values ​​and had to be accounted for.

"So frankly, those who choose ways that are very contrary to human values. The perpetrators of the shooting must be held accountable for their actions," he said.

Furthermore, Andika claimed to have pocketed several names of the shooters. According to him, his party will pursue the perpetrators and hold them accountable for their actions.

Regarding the next steps, according to him, the TNI will evaluate the events that have occurred beforehand.
 
Previously, three TNI soldiers were killed in a shootout with TPNPB-OPM, Thursday (27/1). The clashes started at 05.00 WIT when the TPNPB-OPM attacked the TNI post. The second attack was launched at around 09.37 WIT.

KKB has claimed responsibility for the incident. TNPB-OPM said the attack on the TNI was carried out by the group led by Numbuk Telenggen.
