The Vice President-Minister of Manpower Inaugurates the Development of 21 BLK in Papua and West Papua




Vice President Ma'ruf Amin, inaugurated the construction of Community Work Training Centers (BLK) in Papua and West Papua. Symbolically, the inauguration was held at the Global Mission International Indonesia Foundation (GMII), Sentani, Jayapura, today.

Ma'ruf said that Papua, which has the largest area in Indonesia, has the potential for natural resources of economic and strategic value. For this reason, the government through the Ministry of Manpower inaugurated BLK in order to realize the availability of competent human resources that is evenly distributed throughout the country.

"Paying attention to the potential of Papua, the Ministry of Manpower takes a role in improving the competence of human resources through the Community Work Training Center (BLK) development program," said Ma'ruf Amin in a written statement, Saturday (16/10/2021).

Furthermore, Ma'ruf said that since 2017-2020, the Ministry of Manpower has allocated the development of 12 Community BLK institutions in Papua and West Papua. These institutions are spread across Papua as many as 7 institutions and West Papua as many as 5 institutions.

In 2021, the Ministry of Manpower allocates programs and budgets for the development of Community BLK as many as 21 recipient institutions of Community BLK development assistance. This includes 12 institutions in Papua and 9 institutions in West Papua.

Ma'ruf explained that the development of Community BLK is an effort to bring closer access to human resource competency improvement in Papua and West Papua. However, this effort will not run optimally if it is not supported by the cooperation and synergy of the Regional Government, the business world and the industrial world, as well as the community in the community.

"This is a big task for all of us to prepare good management, good facilities and infrastructure, and prepare competent and great human resources in strengthening the existing innovation ecosystem," he said.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Manpower, Ida Fauziyah explained that Community BLK aims to make it easier for people throughout Indonesia to access training.

"We want to show that with the development of this Community BLK, the government is determined to reach all corners that have not been reached by training institutions, both government training institutions and private training institutions," he said.

Since 2017-2020, Ida said that his party had built 2,127 Community BLKs spread across religious institutions and trade union communities throughout Indonesia.

This year, the development of 21 Community BLKs in Papua and West Papua is also the government's commitment to developing Papua and West Papua, particularly related to human resource development. Ida hopes that the Community BLK can improve community skills.

"With this Community BLK, it is hoped that it can provide technical production skills or vocational expertise according to the needs of the labor market for the community and surrounding communities in working or entrepreneurship," he concluded.
