Nemangkawi Task Force Arrests KKB Logistics Supplier

The Nemangkawi Task Force of the TNI and Polri arrested fugitive members of the armed criminal group (KKB) yesterday (3/8). The KKB member who acts as a logistics supplier is named Kopengga Enumbi.

Head of West Papua Regional Police Kombespol A.M. Kamal said the arrests were made after a shootout between the TNI and Polri with the Kopengga Enumbi group occurred yesterday. "At that time, the task force of Lidik Gakkum led by Ipda Dedi Sudomo and supported by Yon Raider 613/RJA succeeded in crippling Kopengga," he said in a written statement.

Kopengga alias Tamu Enumbi is in charge of meeting the logistical needs of KKB Lekagak Telenggen. Kopengga is also the younger brother of a fugitive from KKB named Lerimayu Enumbi. "When he was arrested, a number of pieces of evidence were confiscated," said Kamal. Among them, eleven SS1 ammunition, one badik, one cellphone, and a noken bag.

Kopengga is also known to be a fugitive since 2014 for a case of violent theft. "He stole eight index weapons from the Kulirik Police Post, Puncak Jaya, in 2014," he said.

The Head of the Nemangkawi Public Relations Task Force also stated that the task force would synergize and take firm action against separatists and KKB who threaten the security and public order in Papua.

However, a different version was received by Cenderawasih Pos. It was stated that Kopengga Enumbi was paralyzed in a shootout that occurred at 11.20 WIT. Because there was resistance, the task force personnel shot the perpetrator and died on the spot. At 12.00 WIT, Kopengga Enumbi's body was taken to the Mulia Hospital.

Spokesman for the West Papua National Liberation Army-Free Papua Organization (TPNPB-OPM) Sebby Sambom did not comment when confirmed regarding the arrest of its members. Short messages sent were not answered.

The Nemangkawi Task Force is currently being continued by the Papuan Police in collaboration with the Cenderawasih Military Command. Until now, KKB is still operating. However, his activities seem to be starting to slacken. In contrast to the case some time ago, almost every day there were shootouts and burning of public facilities.
