Acting Chairman of the Central Executive Board of the Indonesian Youth National Committee (DPP KNPI) Mustahuddin conveyed his attitude regarding the National Sports Week (PON) activities to be held in Papua.
According to him, PON XX Papua is a sports festival that all athletes from various provinces look forward to.
"PON XX has been postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, therefore the government's decision through the Minister of Youth and Sports to carry out PON XX in October this year in Papua is an adaptive and wise step in order to keep and build national sports alive and achieve in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. 19," said Mustahuddin.
Mustahuddin also said that the PON-class sports festival would be an alternative entertainment and spectacle for the people of Indonesia in the midst of this pandemic.
"Although we can't watch and be present in the PON arena to support every athlete and contingent from various provinces, we can still support and watch them compete through live broadcasts from television stations, and it will become a favorite program for the Indonesian people, Liat It's just that during the Japanese Olympics, when our Women's Doubles pair competed in the final, there was an uproar and our enthusiasm for Indonesia burst out with various yells in front of their respective television screens," said Mustahuddin.
Therefore, the KNPI DPP asked the Minister of Youth and Sports to carry out XX PON according to the existing schedule.
"We support the Menpora to organize this XX PON in October 2021, this PON Sports Festival is important to maintain the spirit and competitive climate of athletes so that they can still compete and excel, on an international scale," said the HMI activist.
According to Muatahuddin, the KNPI DPP also asked the Minister of Youth and Sports to ensure the safety and health of all sports contingents involved through the application of strict health protocols during the implementation of this XX PON activity.
"The implementation of PON XX in the midst of the Covid-19 Pandemic must continue to adhere to the principles of Safety and Health of all the Sports Contingents involved, therefore we hope that the government through Mr. Zainuddin Amali as the Minister of Youth and Sports ensures that the Operational Standards and Procedures for the implementation of the Papua PON must comply with strict health protocols, the committee and all elements. those involved can learn from and benefit from the success of the international Olympic event held in Tokyo recently," said Mustahuddin.
