The Grand Committee of the XX Papua National Sports Week (PB PON) has prepared 1,157 identity cards for journalists throughout Indonesia who will cover the four-year event.
This number is the result of the registration of journalists covering PON independently or collectively from the media and KONI throughout Indonesia, which will be opened online from July 1, 2020 to April 1, 2021.
This figure is also added to the registration which is done offline at the same time.
"We have opened registration (journalists covering PON) since July 1, 2020, closed April 1, 2021. The results are quite extraordinary, there are 1,157 journalists who will be in charge of covering the implementation of PON XX 2021 in Papua," said Deputy Secretary IV for Public Relations and PPM PB PON Papua, Kadkis A. Matdoan through a press release received, Wednesday (11/8/2021).
According to him, this number will be divided into four clusters, namely Jayapura City and Regencies, Merauke and Mimika.
"I will report this data to the leadership to be finalized and there are no more additional journalists (after registration is closed)," he said.
Meanwhile, as many as 1,157 journalists covering the XX PON, accommodation, consumption and local transportation will be provided in each cluster.
Journalists also get facilities in all media centers, including computers, wifi and other supporting equipment.
Regarding the issuance of ID cards, Kadkis ensures that it will be completed in the near future because the auction process for making identity cards for journalists covering PON, as well as athletes and officials, has been completed.
The database of 1,157 journalists covering PON was officially handed over by the Head of the Verification Team for Reporting Reporters of PON Papua, Hans Alfaro to Deputy Secretary IV for Public Relations and PPM PB PON Papua, Kadkis A. Matdoan, Tuesday (10/8/2021).
A total of 1,175 journalists covering the verified PON consist of 457 Papuan media, 84 national TV, 81 national online media, 25 national print media and 246 contingent media.
Then the central TVRI 158 people, the central RRI 52 people, the PR journalists from the Ministry of Youth and Sports 49 people and the SIWO PWI journalists 5 people.
