The Department of Industry and Cooperatives, SMEs, and Papuan Manpower said that in welcoming the implementation of PON XX and Peparnas which will take place in four districts and cities, they are cooperating with craftsmen and traders, especially Papuan women.
"Currently we are still collecting data in collaboration with Kadin and the Papuan Entrepreneurs' Customary Chamber (KAPP)," said Omah Laduane, Head of Industry and Cooperatives, SMEs and Papuan Workers in Jayapura, Wednesday (21/07), as reported by Antara.
He said that based on the data collection, the traders and craftsmen, especially the Papuan women involved, would be given training and skills.
"We will also cooperate with PB PON so that the work of Papuan mothers can be absorbed to provide added value," said Laduane.
He acknowledged that the artisans and traders who were involved were not only in the four regencies and cities but also in buffer zones, such as Wamena and Biak.
The training is carried out so that the merchandise can be packaged properly and make it easier for buyers when bringing them to their regions because the PON and Peparnas participants come from all regions in Indonesia.
As for what is prepared in addition to the noken bag which is a traditional Papuan chicken bag, also processed products such as asar or smoked fish, honey and coffee.
"Hopefully, during the implementation of PON and Peparnas, they can provide added value to craftsmen and traders, especially Papuan women," he said.
PON XX will take place from October 2-15 in Jayapura City and Regencies, Mimika and Merauke Regency, while Peparnas will be held from November 2-15 in Jayapura City and Regency.
