The Forum for Creative Women Care for Papua's Economic Development (FPKPPE Papua) supports and welcomes the Draft Law (RUU) on the Second Amendment to Law Number 21/2001 concerning Special Autonomy for Papua Province which was passed into law at the plenary meeting of the DPR RI, on 15 last July 2021. This is important for the continuation of development in Papua.
"We ask the DPR RI to be able to oversee and ensure that the central government issues government regulations through the President of the Republic of Indonesia," said the head of the Papua FPKPPE Ester E Yaku, SE in a release submitted to the editor of Cenderawasih Pos, Wednesday (21/7) yesterday.
In addition, FPKPPE Papua also asks the district/city government as well as the Papua Province and the center to immediately socialize the new Papua Special Autonomy Law to the people in Papua. Especially related to the appointment of the DPRD/DPRK in accordance with the mandate of the newly ratified Bill No. 2 article 6A paragraph 1 which reads, "representation of Indigenous Peoples from Papuan Indigenous Elements in the district/city customary territory and not currently a member of a political party at least 5 years before registering as a candidate for DPRD/DPRK member.
And paragraph 2 which reads what is meant by a quarter of the total number of DPRD/DPRK members including those with a position of at least 30% women's representation.
"FPKPPE Papua also recommends the establishment of a special autonomy control agency in order to properly involve the Papuan community and obtain recommendations from the Papuan Culture forces," he said.
Meanwhile, regarding the lockdown as of August 1, the Papua FPKPPE requested that the local government be able to provide Bama assistance for all people in Papua.
"All Papuans are also asked to work together to maintain security stability in their respective communities and areas of residence and to participate in the success of PON XX while maintaining health protocols." he concluded.
