Papeda Alliance Appreciates the Ratification of the Special Autonomy Law

The Peaceful Papua Alliance (Papeda) appreciates the ratification of the Special Autonomy Law (Otsus) which was passed into law by the Indonesian House of Representatives.

The head of the Papeda Alliance, Yulianus Dwaa, SKM expressed his appreciation for the Special Autonomy Special Committee of the DPR RI which had been working seriously so that the Special Autonomy Bill could be passed into the Special Autonomy Law.

Moreover, initially the central government planned to evaluate only two articles, but the work of the Special Autonomy Special Committee of the DPR RI resulted in a revision of 18 articles plus 2 articles in the Special Autonomy Law. This is amazing work done.

"We appreciate that the Special Autonomy Special Committee of the DPR RI has worked, so that the Special Autonomy Bill has been passed into law by revising 18 articles and adding 2 more articles," he told Cenderawasih Pos, Friday (16/7).

Dwaa admits that although the Special Autonomy Bill has been passed into law, the pros and cons in the community are still going on. In fact, there are people who reject the ratification of the Special Autonomy Law.

"Indeed, until now there are pros and cons, but there are still paths that need to be taken so that the rights of the Papuan people can be accommodated," he said.

Dwaa hopes that with the ratification of the Special Autonomy Law, in the future it can accommodate the basic rights of the Papuan Indigenous People (OAP) in various aspects, both education, health, economy, politics and so on.
