Ahead of nine months from the XX Papua National Sports Week (PON) event, the training portion of degree fighting athletes has been balanced between physical and technical.

North Sumatra Tarung Derajat trainer, Hizrah Saputra Harahap said that his focus is on providing training programs for athletes in sparing and physical techniques.

"Now the technical and physical exercises have been 50-50, six times physical and five times technical. Sometimes it can be physical 8 times and technique three times. And usually it is done on holidays," he said, Sunday (24/1 / 2021).

The man who is familiarly called Putra stated that he continues to urge the two athletes to continue to maintain health and regulate diet and sleep. "Given that it is already 9 months from now that PON will be rolled out," he said.

Regarding what targets will be achieved at PON Papua, Putra said that the target in every championship is always gold. Although sometimes deviated, the North Sumatra degree fighter twice in PON won a silver medal, three times PON got a bronze medal.

"We are targeting gold because we have never. That's why we are trying to make both of our athletes achieve and bring home a gold medal at PON Papua later," he said.

Putra stated that the athlete's physical condition is currently improving and this can be seen during the physical tests that were carried out.

PON 2004 in South Sumatra brought home one silver medal and two bronze medals. PON 2008 in East Kalimantan took home a bronze medal.
