The Provincial Management of the West Sumatra Muaythai Sports Branch sent 4 fighters accompanied by 2 coaches to take part in a trial match in Batam from 13 to 19 December 2020. The Try Out event was intended to further finalize the Muaythai sports preparation to face PON XX Papua, October next year.
Coach Arif Rahman Nasir, after being released by the Chairman of Koni West Sumatra, Syaiful, Saturday (12/12/20) said that his party would take advantage of the facilities provided by the West Sumatra KONI to participate in the Try Out to Batam, because in addition to evaluating and measuring the ability of fighters, it was also for adds experience when dealing with professional fighters from Batam who have tasted at the international championship level.
Arif Rahman Nasir explained that in the Try Out the 4 fighters who already had PON tickets to Papua would participate in several matches. Apart from being tested against fighters from the junior category, with national reputation, the West Sumatra fighters will also be tested for their abilities when competing with senior fighters.
"This is very good for improving the abilities of the fighters, raising the fighting spirit of the fighters, at least being able to buy and sell attacks with those who are seniors to achieve victory in every match," he said.
Regarding the target at PON later, Arif said that the opportunity to win medals was very wide open, because in each class competed, only 8 of the best fighters participated, the results of the West, Central and East Regional Sports Week, one Papua host fighter and one athlete. Wild Card holder with National Athlete status.
"We will try to bring at least one gold medal to bring it home, but from whom it is not certain, because all have the chance to win a medal," he explained.
Under the command of Ketum Muayyhai West Sumatra Darmansyah, accompanied by Arif Rahman Nasir and Ramon Satria as coaches, 4 fighters sent for the try out to Batam were Dian Nofrizal 75 Kg class, Dion Saputra class 67 Kg, Andri Nofriadi class 57 and Gilang Dwi Fajri class 45 Kg.
