The Importance of Awareness Sentani People Use Masks

The Jayapura Regency Government encourages the awareness of Sentani residents to wear masks, especially when doing activities outside the home, as one of the important steps in preventing transmission of a new type of corona virus (COVID-19).

Spokesperson of the COVID-19 Jayapura District Acceleration and Prevention Task Force Team Khairul Lie said, a number of local residents did not understand well the benefits of using masks.

"From the operations of several enforcement teams, we have reports that it turns out that in some places the use of masks is still a problem that we need to solve together," he said.

He explained the importance of public awareness of the use of masks in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"People need to know that masks are a necessity to prevent the transmission of corona from us to other people and other people to us, especially when we are outside the home," he said.

Chairman of the Jayapura Regency COVID-19 Acceleration and Prevention Task Force Mathius Awoitauw always stressed the discipline of the community in implementing health protocols, including the use of masks, both during daily activities, social activities, offices, and in public places.

"This health protocol is very important for us communities in Jayapura Regency. We are unrelenting and do not get tired of appealing to all people in Jayapura Regency to continue to practice this health protocol wherever we are," he said.

He mentioned the continued implementation of health protocols, including maintaining distance, not gathering in large numbers, and the use of masks when leaving the house.

In addition, he said, diligently washing hands using soap in running water for at least 20 seconds, consuming nutritious food and intake of vitamin C and E to maintain the immune system from exposure to the virus.
