Jayawijaya Regency Government provides agricultural equipment to the people of the Tagineri district

The Government of Jayawijaya Regency, Papua Province provides agricultural equipment, in the form of shovels, crowbars and machetes to the people of Tagineri District.

Jayawijaya Deputy Regent Marthin Yogobi in the Tagineri District, Jayawijaya Regency, said the provision of the equipment was an effort to encourage the community to be more active in gardening.

"Every time the district head and I go down to the district, we always emphasize that people return to gardening because gardens are the source of community life in mountainous areas," he said.

Most Jayawijaya residents have a livelihood as farmers so the government promises to continue supporting them.

"The staple food of the people in the mountains here is tubers or petatas. Not rice, not sago, therefore we continue to empower them," he said.

Marthin said that in the work program and the regent in the next five years, one priority focus was to improve welfare based on local wisdom.

"So we hope that with the help of the equipment we provide, it is used as well as possible for gardening," he said.

The handover of manual farming equipment was also previously given to farmers during a working visit to the Pisugi District, two days ago.

"If people ask for money, I don't have it. But if people ask for agricultural equipment to open plantation land, I will definitely love it," he said.
