The Ministry of Health hopes that parents understand the importance of monitoring the growth and development of their children

The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) of the Republic of Indonesia hopes that parents can understand the importance of monitoring the growth and development of their children.

Nida Rohmawati, Head of the Toddler and Preschool Health Work Team at the Directorate of Maternal and Child Health and Nutrition at the Ministry of Health, Nida Rohmawati in Sentani, said that when parents realized the importance of monitoring their child's growth, they would check their child's health every month at the posyandu.

"This is what we encourage so that every parent can bring their child to the posyandu for health checks to make sure their child has co-morbidities or not," he said during a review of the intervention to accelerate stunting reduction at Posyandu Maleo 1 in Nalokla Village, East Sentani District, Jayapura Regency , Papua, Tuesday.

According to Rohmawati, if parents' awareness is high, they will make Posyandu a target to monitor children's development.

"So later if there are no children going to the posyandu then the posyandu cadres will make a home visit because we don't want any of our children to escape monitoring," he said.

He explained, as happened at Posyandu Maleo 1 where his party saw that the community was already active and the cadres had been able to detect malnutrition but it turned out that there was a comorbid disease, namely Tuberculosis (TB).

"So this is something that must be overcome together so that our children are healthy," he said again.

He added that this should be a joint commitment that all Indonesian children must be healthy, smart, cheerful and have noble character.
