A young Papuan figure, Ali Kabiay, asked the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) not to allow the Governor of Papua as a suspect in a corruption case to seek treatment in Singapore, even under humanitarian pretexts. The Secretary General of the Barisan Merah Putih suggested that the Governor of Papua, Lukas Enembe, be able to carry out medical treatment in the country, because the quality of doctors and well-known hospitals in Indonesia, such as the Gatot Subroto Army Hospital and RSCM are not inferior to Singapore.
"I think the quality of hospitals in Singapore and those in our country are the same. Even our doctors at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital, Gatot Subroto Army Hospital, have quality that is not inferior to doctors abroad," said Ali Kabiay who is also the Chairman of the DPD Youth Mandala Trikora Papua Province, in Jayapura, Friday (9/12).
It is known that last week, Lukas Enembe's legal team had submitted an application to obtain permission from the KPK so that his client (Lukas Enembe) could seek treatment in Singapore. Regarding this request, KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri said his institution was still working on getting the Governor of Papua Province Lukas Enembe to be treated domestically. Even so, he said, there was a chance that Luke would be treated abroad.
Ali Kabiay even suspects that the request by the legal team for the number one Papuan to seek treatment in Singapore has a hidden agenda. "Don't let what was disclosed by Mr. Lukas' legal team create wild opinion in society. Because some people think that maybe he (Lukas Enembe) wants to go to Singapore for treatment, then flees. Because, sorry, there is a regent from Papua also those who have been named as suspects by the KPK, then fled to Papua New Guinea, to a neighboring country," said Ali.
The head of the Indigenous Youth for the Saireri II Nabire Region also asked the anti-corruption agency not to treat Lukas Enembe too special, considering that during his leadership in the land of Papua, it had caused disappointment in the hearts of the people. Ali gave an example of this disappointment, as expressed by the Regent of Biak Numfor, Herry Ario Naap in the video that is currently going viral. In the video, the Regent of Biak Numfor bluntly talks about the lack of budgetary support from the Provincial Government of Papua so far. He considered that the budget policies and programs of the Papua Provincial Government have so far seemed to have neglected the Biak Numfor Regency. Ali considered that the Regent's expression of frustration was a shared frustration with the injustice in the allocation of the development budget that they felt.
"Because so far the distribution of Special Autonomy (Special Autonomy for Papua) funds has been uneven. Because it's true, it's no longer a secret that the distribution of Special Autonomy funds, sorry, in the areas of Saireri, Animha, Tabi, Bomberai, Domberai, we get slots different from those in mountainous regions, for example Mepago and Lapago," said Ali.
This means, added Ali, so far the Governor of Papua has not focused on looking at his own region. Because of this, Ali asked the government and all stakeholders, especially the central leaders of political parties in Indonesia, so that when recruiting candidates for regional leaders for the land of Papua, they really go through a rigorous screening process. "There needs to be a screening of leaders in Papua, that's very important. We need leaders in Papua who truly practice Pancasila, love for the motherland, that's very important. So that leaders become trustworthy leaders, can lead not only for people only native Papuans, but become leaders for our other brothers and sisters from all over Indonesia who live in Papua. Leaders must be like that, "said Ali Kabiay.
