The Ministry of Agriculture and IFAC are preparing to export Papuan agricultural food to the United States

The Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia (Kementan) together with the Indonesian Food and Agriculture and Council (IFAC) agencies will prepare a road show for the launch of the Papuan agricultural food export movement to the United States on November 28, 2022.

IFAC Partnership and Fundrising Director Yunus Saflembolo in his statement in Biak on Saturday said the road show for the Papuan agricultural economy in the United States was among other things to showcase commodities in the form of exports of Papuan coffee and tuna.

"Coffee and tuna typical of Papua have export prospects to America which are sold by IFAC and the ranks of the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture," said Yunus Saflembolo.

Yunus revealed that four special types of coffee from Papua are very popular in foreign countries until now because the aroma and taste are very distinctive compared to other coffees.

The four types of Papuan coffee, according to Yunus, include Bintang Mountains or Mount Jayawijaya coffee, Amungme Timika coffee, Mimika Regency, Moanemani coffee, Dogiyai Regency, and Baliem Wamena coffee, Jayawijaya Regency.

As for fisheries and maritime affairs, according to Yunus, these are Papuan types of tuna and matoa fruits (pometia pinnata).

"IFAC is very optimistic that the opportunity to export agricultural and fishery products from the Land of Papua has the potential to improve the economy of the local indigenous Papuan people," said the son of a native Papuan who is the director of IFAC.

Yunus admitted that agricultural and fishery products from the Land of Papua have great potential in foreign export markets.

Yunus expressed his hope that the ranks of the district government and regional apparatus organizations will continue to encourage indigenous Papuans by providing assistance in managing the natural resource potential of the agricultural and marine fisheries sector based on local wisdom.

"The opportunity for the agricultural export market from Papua specifically to America has the potential to bring in foreign exchange and increase the economic income of local indigenous Papuans," said Yunus.
