Kaimana Regent Freddy Thie, Saturday (24/9/2022) officially held a grand opening for the utilization of the Kaimana culinary tourism area, which was equipped with a number of art spots for Kaimana young people to be creative.
The grand opening witnessed by thousands of Kaimana residents was marked by the cutting of ribbons and the signing of the inscription by the Regent of Kaimana, Freddy Thie, accompanied by Forkopimda Kaimana.
Also enlivening this event, a number of local singers from Kaimana and a national artist from Jayapura, Mace Purba with his most popular song 'Baju Hitam' and also the appearance of young Kaimana youths in the Kaimana Fashion Week attraction.
Regent Freddy Thie in his speech said he was happy to be able to inaugurate the Kaimana culinary tourism area. He is proud because in this area there are creative spots for developing the talents of Kaimana's young people in the arts.
“As the Regent, I am happy that today we can launch the Kaimana culinary tour, but there are also spots including an entertainment stage for young people who have talent in the arts to be creative. Take advantage of this, this is a space for you to channel your positive talents," he said.
The Regent explained that the development of this culinary tourism area began with the widespread construction of selling stalls on Bantemi Beach when enlivening the Great Papuan Indigenous Peoples Conference in October 2021.
The existence of selling stalls at that time, continued the Regent, was quite disturbing to the view considering the position of Bantemi beach itself is a green open space. "From there, the Regional Government was forced to take steps to control, but the control that we do must also have a solution," he said.
The solution in question is relocating the traders to an area that is now used as a culinary tourism area. “Initially it was built in a very limited way. However, business actors had gone to the DPRD to complain about the location. So today we can launch Kaimana culinary tourism in extraordinary circumstances," he said.
The Regent hopes that Kaimana culinary tourism will not stop at the launching stage, but in the future it should become a creative place for business people who have expertise in the culinary field.
“This is part of the local government's concern for the community. My hope, the ladies and gentlemen who drive the business, don't get discouraged. Keep trying so that this already good place can lift Kaimana as a tourist city," he concluded.
While the coordinator of the culinary tourism area who is also the Chair of GOW Kaimana, Ny. Sukiati Furuada on the same occasion expressed her gratitude to the Regional Government for paying attention to business actors.
The wife of the Deputy Regent of Kaimana, who is tasked with fostering culinary tourism business actors, hopes that culinary business actors can take advantage of this opportunity well by continuing to develop their current business so that one day they can become successful culinary entrepreneurs.
