Head of the Disease Control and Communicable Division at the Maybrat District Health Office, Nikolas Yumame in Sorong, Monday, said that the assistance of 400 mosquito nets had been distributed to flood victims in four villages in the South Mare District.
He explained that the assistance of the mosquito net was an effort by the local government to protect the local community from various diseases caused by mosquito bites.
Because the location of the flood is definitely a lot of mosquitoes, so prevention efforts are very important so that people continue to carry out their activities properly.
Yumame hopes that flood-affected communities use the mosquito nets when resting or sleeping in order to avoid disease because floods cause lots of mosquitoes which have a huge impact on health.
The task of the government is to provide protection to the community in accordance with the work functions of each regional apparatus organization.
"Like the Health Office, its task in handling flood victims is to ensure that people stay healthy and avoid diseases caused by situations such as mosquitoes," he said.
South Mare Religious Leader, Yanpit Yumte, who gave a separate statement, appreciated the government for paying attention to flood victims in the South Mare District.
"The assistance of the mosquito net really helps the community to avoid the danger of malaria," said Yumte.
