The festive portrait of welcoming the 77th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) was felt in Yakyu Hamlet, Rawabiru Village, Sota District, Merauke Regency, Papua, Indonesia's border with Papua New Guinea (PNG), Monday (15/8/2022) ). The Yakyu hamlet community, who are Papuan Indigenous People (OAP) together with the RI-PNG Border Security Task Force (Satgas Pamtas) Battalion 123/Rajawali, are busy preparing for the commemoration of the month of independence.
The very high enthusiasm of the border community is no less competitive with the red and white glitter in the Merauke City area. Starting from decorating the village streets and their respective houses with various typical Augustan knick-knacks and preparing a place for ceremonies that are only days away. The Commander of the Indonesian Pamtas Task Force-PNG Infantry Battalion 123/RW Lt. Col. Inf Goklas P Silaban said the personnel of the Rajawali Pos Yakyu Task Force and local residents were very close.
"This village looks very festive with colorful banners, red and white flags, banners and decorations typical of August," said Dansatgas in a release to Tribun-Papua.com, Monday (15/8/2022). Even though he admits, to penetrate the Yakyu village, you have to go through the long distance and swamp obstacles.
However, it did not dampen the steps of the Indonesian Army together with the local community to welcome the special day of Indonesian independence which is always eagerly awaited every year. “Even though their village is far away and they have to pass through the swamp for 2 hours. This does not dampen the enthusiasm of the Yakyu people in decorating their village, where they live,” said Inf. Lt. Col. Goklas P Silaban.
Meanwhile, Danpos Yakyu Task Force Battalion 123/Rajawali, First Lieutenant Inf Darwin Manullang said that he and his members continued to motivate and invite the people of Dusun Yakyu to celebrate the 77th Indonesian Independence Day.
According to him, giving appreciation, respect and commemoration of the independence day of the Republic of Indonesia can be carried out in various ways in implementing it.
"We and the Yakyu community are very happy, hand in hand putting up flags, banners, putting up billboards and not forgetting to prepare the ceremony venue by making a podium and casting flagpoles," said Danpos.
