The Provincial Government (Pemprov) of Papua will launch a movement to distribute 10 million red and white flags. The distribution of flags is focused on Merauke Regency on August 12, 2022.
Jeri Agus Yudianto, Head of the Papua Province Communications and Information Office, said that the movement to distribute the Red and White flag was a national program that was carried out simultaneously throughout Indonesia to welcome the 77th anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia.
"The implementation (of the declaration) will be centered in Merauke and is planned for August 12," said Jeri in Jayapura, Friday (5/8/2022).
He said the movement for distributing the red and white flag was aimed at fostering love for the nation and state and strengthening the spirit to rise after two years of facing the Covid-19 pandemic.
"Choose Merauke Regency as the center for launching the red and white flag movement because it is located at the eastern end of Indonesia's territory," he said.
