Masses from the Papuan Community Alliance and the Archipelago Community read a declaration related to support for the new autonomous regions (DOB) and Special Autonomy (Otsus) Volume II in Papua which took place at Borasi Manokwari Square, Friday (10/6/2022).
The Secretary to the Chief of the Maybrat Tribe in Manokwari, Markus Sraun, read that there were four agreements in the declaration.
First, they fully support the implementation of the Special Autonomy Law No. 2 of 2021 regarding the second amendment to Law No. 21 of 2001 regarding Special Autonomy in Papua. This is because this will have a positive impact on accelerating development and improving people's welfare.
Second, support the formation of new autonomous regions in the Papua region because it is a national strategic program based on community aspirations.
"For that we ask with great respect to the President of the Republic of Indonesia (Joko Widodo) and the government to immediately make it happen. Through the expansion approach, it will accelerate development as well as expand the range of services and shorten the span of development control for the people in the Papua region," said Markus.
Third, fully support the formation of new autonomous regions in the Papua region because it has been legally mandated in Article 76 paragraphs 1, 2, and 3 of Law Number 2 of 2021 concerning Special Autonomy for Papua to legitimize the mandate.
Fourth, request with great respect to the president and the central government to immediately enact the draft law for the formation of new autonomous regions in the Papua region into law.
This is so that the improvement of education, health, job opportunities, improvement of human resource development, regional economic development, management of regional economic potential, and the growth of democratic life can be realized.
After reading this declaration, the material for the declaration was given to the West Papuan People's Assembly (MRPB) which was accepted by Leonard Yarolo for further processing.
