General Chairperson of the Solidarity of the Younger Generation of Papua (SGM-P) Arie Ferdinand Waropen, assessed that the formation of the New Autonomous Region (DOB) for Papua was not merely adding to the administrative area of the government. However, it must be able to provide benefits in the form of Acceleration and Equitable Development in the Land of Papua.
Therefore, all parties, both the government, the legislature and the community, must be able to carry out their roles in the portion of their duties and functions responsibly.
According to him, in principle, seeing the report cards for public services in Papua so far, it has not yet accommodated all the needs of the Papuan people. This is due to several factors, one of which is the very wide territory of the provincial administrative area.
The second factor is the characteristics of the community from each customary area which also influences public policy so that with this Papua New Guinea it is deemed necessary to accommodate things that have not been maximized.
"Of course with great hope there will be equitable development for the welfare of the Papuan people (OAP)," Arie said in his statement, Tuesday (12/4/2022)
He explained that the Papuan DOP policy certainly reaped a lot of public responses, both pros and cons, especially the Papuan people. However, as young Papuan intellectuals, they must be able to see from various perspectives to get a positive part that the young Papuan generation can respond to with a real contribution in Papua.
Arie emphasized the orientation of improving young Papuan human resources with breakthroughs and innovations in development. And SGM-P was also moved to be formed at that time (2018) with the initiative to build competitive young Papuan human resources.
"The Youth-Papua Solidarity that we initiated three years ago was based on the aspiration to produce a productive, quality and consistent young Papuan generation for a better Papua," explained the activist from West Papua.
Arie added that currently SGM-P is structurally and oriented towards work programs centered in Malang Raya with several members of Papuan Youth and Students studying in East Java, focusing on work programs by providing skills training rooms according to expertise to members/participants so that they can be applied in other areas. their respective hometown areas when they return to the area.
"I and the group want to do something concrete to develop our region, Papua, and this program with skills training rooms is one way," said the alumnus of Universitas Brawijaya.
