A total of 17 tons of frozen shrimp produced by the superior product of the Mimika Regency were sent to Surabaya via the sea toll road at Pomako Timika Port, Papua.
The sea toll has entered Timika since 2017.
"So the delivery of frozen shrimp using the sea toll is the first time because instead of returning empty containers, it's better to take advantage of this moment," said Head of Trade Disperindag Mimika Regency, Selfina Pappang to Tribun-Papua.com, Saturday (26/3/2022).
The 17 tons frozen shrimp were filled in two containers, then sent by PT Barthu Langgeng as the manager.
"The cost is quite cheap using the sea toll," he said.
According to Selfina, the existence of the sea highway makes the government use it so that superior results can be sent outside the region.
"So the function of this sea highway is to serve people in remote, underdeveloped, underdeveloped areas," he said.
The Timika sea toll container has 12 units. Two of them are refrigerated for frozen goods, and the other 10 are for dry matter.
Selfina hopes that the sea toll road in the future will be more useful.
"So entrepreneurs who want to use the sea highway can coordinate with the government so that superior regional products can be exported outside Timika," he said.
