KKB led by Egianus Kogoya, Saturday afternoon (26/3) attacked the Marine Battalion 3rd Mupe Task Force Post.
As a result of the attack 10 people were shot and injured, one of whom was Danpos Lettu Iqbal died.
Nduga Police Chief Kompol Budhiarta told Antara on Saturday night that the KKB had attacked the Mupe Task Force post in Kwareh Bawah.
The attack was carried out by KKB from two directions and they all carried firearms.
Even the sound of gunshots from the GLM grenade launcher that Egianus Kogoya was holding was heard as far as the Nduga Police, which is about 1.2 KM from the Mupe Task Force Post. I am Komang, who claimed to be on standby in Kenyam with his members.
It is recognized that the GLM brought by Egianus Kogoya along with the firearms brought by KKB members during the attack were looted weapons and belonged to the TNI.
Before the attack occurred, the people around Kenyam had heard information that stated that KKB would carry out an attack but it was not known exactly when and where.
"Today until noon the security and security situation around Kenyam was conducive but suddenly at around 17.45 WIT, gunshots were heard and there were reports that the Marine post in Kwareh Bawah was attacked," said Komang.
He added that currently all personnel including the victims have been evacuated to the Kotis post which is about 2.5 KM from the scene.
It is scheduled for Sunday (27/3) the victims will be evacuated to Timika, explained the Nduga Police Chief Kompol Komang Budhiarta.
